Hi there
Although I've just registered I've been lurking in the shadows here off & on for a while and found this a great resource for advice. I felt that I should register to say thanks to everyone involved in the running of the forum for their time & efforts.
As per the subject line I'm celebrating my last payment being sent last night. It's been a long haul I must say. My trust deed started in October 2008 and I've only just made the last payment through agreeing a final lump sum from a third party otherwise I'd be looking at another year of payments! My marriage ending meant that I had to reduce my monthly contribution to less than half for almost a year.
Now though it's all paid off finally, I've been approved for a Vanquis card (which will be used for fuel and cleared monthly) and can look towards improving my credit profile.
Can anyone confirm that since my trust deed started in October 2008 that this should come off my credit file in October 2014? I've registered with one or two of the credit agencies (Experian on the free trial and CallCredit which is 'free forever' it seems) and obviously things look pretty bleak on there at the moment.
I also want to say 'good luck' to all those embarking on the journey now - it's bloody long and hard but well worth it. A holiday next year is a certainty!
Welcome to the forum Beloved_Aunt. I do really like it when someone joins the forum and announces that they've been a "lurker"!
Congratulations on completing your trust deed. It's a big achievement to get to the end and you deserve to celebrate.
You're correct about your credit file. The entry marking the start of the trust deed should vanish around six years after it was added.
Well done on completing the trust deed. We really should get a medal for getting through it!!
Vanquis will soon up your rating and credit limit (mines at ยฃ2000 now) so be careful with it.
Check any defaults on file are dated no later than around your trust deed start date. If any are contact the lender to change the default date.

A new dawn.
Well done. I'm glad it has worked out ( and sooner than you expected)
It's always good to hear a success story.

Hi Beloved Aunt,
It sounds like you have had a hard time personally during your Trust Deed and it's good to hear that you've came out of the Trust Deed successfully.
Good luck for the future and enjoy the holiday. Somewhere nice and sunny I hope.
