Hi
Although this is my first and possibly my last post I would like to express my appreciation of the site and the advice offered and experiences shared.
I came across the site quite by accident and in hind sight would have made more use of it during my trust deed.
Now the good part I signed my TD on 28 Apr 10 and got copied into a letter dated 29 Apr 2013 requesting claims from my creditors.
Now that is what I call a timely credible service from the company administrating my TD at this time I believed I had made all 36 payments to my TD.
I was alarmed when the company contacted me to advise that they had not received my payment due on 01 May 13. Adamant that I had made 36 payments, the company checked and between us we identified that the first payment I had made was to a third party of who's involvement I was not aware of and would have dismissed their interest at the time had I been aware. I have now made an additional payment being the last one albeit a week late
During the 3 years of my TD I had no unwelcome communications from the company and they responded to any and all enquiries I made to them. I have nothing but the highest praise and would not hesitate o recommend them to anyone
Time now for the big decisions
do I want to improve my credit rating having given it serious consideration I don't think so I have only ever had one HP agreement that lasted a month before I paid it in full
do I want a Vanquis Credit Card ( they have sent me a Priority Invitation) once again no I have lived without credit cards for three years now so don't see the need for it.
I wish everyone the same trouble free experience I have had
Well done, am in the same boat as my Trust Deed finished at the end of April. Like you I have thought about my credit rating, and I have to agree I have managed to live the last three years without a credit card, HP or overdraft etc.... After much thought I've also decided that I will continue as I am, if I want something I can save for it which is a lot easier now that I have a spare ยฃ350.00 per month.....
Good luck......
Welcome and congratulations lab.
Its great that everything went well for you. I think this is probably pretty common, but isn't something people will always feel spurred on to mention on a forum. Thank you for taking the time to write what you have.
Re-reading your thread its just occurred to me that this might be the first time I've ever written welcome, congratulations and goodbye in a single post!
Hi Iab,
Well done on the completion of your Trust Deed.
I always like to read posts like this as it demonstrates that Trust Deed's can be straight forward and provide the debt relief they are designed to.
You need to balance up what you are going to do in the future. If you feel that you won't require credit then you don't need to take these things out and eventually after time your credit rating will repair itself.
If you have plans to buy a property or require a reliable vehicle and need to take our hire purchase for this then it might be good to be pro active in repairing your credit rating.
You don't need to make any quick decisions, just enjoy being debt free and having the extra money each month.
Good luck for the future and I hope this isn't your first and last post as forums need people like you.

I'm exactly like you lab.
I dont want a credit card or HP but after sitting thinking about it i got a vanquis credit card to help repair my credit.
Im thinking more for the future, maybe 1 day i will need to get a car on HP because ive not got enough saved!! Nows the time to start repairing my credit so in the event i did have to get a loan or HP my credit will be much better than what it is at the moment.
I will buy something off it every month BUT it will be no more than ยฃ10 spent on it!!
It would be nice to name the company used as so many time posters only post when things go wrong!
