My wife and I will be looking to remortgage next year, the current mortgage is in her name but I'll need my income to remortgage or get a new one on another place.

I'm looking on advice on a failed trust deed I have, I entered it in 2012 and failed shortly after so that was 7 years ago. O have kept decent credit in the 6 years since then so my score isn't that bad.
Will this effect me getting a mortgage, will the provider be able to find this out, will I have to resolve it before hand? If I do have to resolve how would I go about it?

Thanks

Chances are they won't be aware of the trust deed as it shouldn't show on your credit file any longer. However, if you had a debt with them back then then they would have been made aware of the trust deed then and may still have a record internally against your name.

Hi,

When you say your Trust Deed failed what did you do about the debts? Did you enter into another plan to deal with these?

If your credit report / file looks positive and there isn’t any defaults on it then I think you would stand a good chance of securing a mortgage. If there are any defaults or negative information it could make it more challenging.

It might be a good idea to reach out to a financial advisor to speak with them about your situation and they can give you some advice too.

I never heard from the creditors after the trust deed failed, I believe they were 1p to the £1 and that's all I heard, they never contacted me and I never contacted them or do anything else.
The debts were showing as defaults until about 3 years ago but everything has fallen off my report since then.

If it’s all fallped off of your credit report then you might be fine securing a mortgage.

Let us know how you get on.
