I took the first step and in my opinion the hardest in trying face up to my ever growing debts.....

Although I had never missed any payments to my creditors, up to date with my Rent and council Tax, I knew I was weeks away from maxing out on my Credit Cards which would have left me with no means to pay all my bills and to live.....

After much denial from myself I eventually contacted CAB by phone, who arranged a face to face interview with a Money Advisor. When we met it was great to be able to talk to someone about my debts as none of my friends or family had any idea of my debts. We discussed various options for me to consider but not once did she ever judge me or criticize me for getting into such a mess, in the end she suggested looking at a Protected Trust Deed. She give me various leaflets on it then told me to read them and arranged to see me a few days later....

On reading them and doing some Internet Research on Trust Deeds, I decided that this could be my best option. Stupidly for me I contacted one of the big online Debt Helplines, they were great over the phone and made everything sound so easy. We agreed everything over the phone and they would send all the paperwork to me for me to sign and then I'd pay them almost ยฃ800 in admin fees, my first two payments in reality........

Luckily I found this place before signing anything which allowed me to actually take feedback from people in the same boat as me, I also learned that there is absolutely no need to pay upfront fees. I contacted this site who put me in touch with Mark from here.....

The rest from there is history, I met Mark at my house we discussed my debts what options I had in dealing with them and 7 days later I get my options in writing. I went with a Trust Deed which I signed a few days later which got protected as predicted, which was great and to be totally honest I have never looked back since then....

Am just amazed how quickly time has passed, how much happier and stress free am am since then. Finally my advice for what it's worth is don't be scared to seek help for your debts, they are people out there who can help you and will not judge you, take it from me it's well worth taking that first step.....

Anyway hope you all have a great Easter and you get lots of nice choccy things.....

Hi Porcupine

Glad it's all worked out.

I remember the meeting well and your right, I can't believe it's a year.

Off for the weekend, I wonder if someone makes chocolate beer as I probably won't get any eggs.

Have a fab weekend.

Regards

Mark

Congratulations. I went through PKF myself, but I was in a similar situation (never missing anything, but getting close to the wall) and the relief and de-stressing after signing was amazing.

Hi all

I think this post demonstrates how things can be set up and run properly.

If you take away all the unknowns and doubts, it should be an easy process & demonstrate why the Trust Deed law was set up in the 1st place.

Porcupine, serves you right for over indulging last night. Hope you're out enjoying the sunshine coz it will be Rain on Saturday followed by Hail on Sunday. It is Glasgow after all!!
