People should have no reservations about this sort of thing.
At the end of my TD, I will have fulfilled all of my obligations and if necessary I will chase my trustee to the ends of the earth until they fulfil theirs...
Hi there
This is my 1st post on here and like Little Miss and Liana I was with Invocas during my Trust Deed. I made my final payment in February this year and called them once my final payment was made and was told I could cancel my DD and that I should receive my discharge letter in April or May at the latest - June arrived and no letter so I called them and I was told like the 2 ladies that my case was under investigation and that it shouldn't be too long. I called back in July and August and finnally received my discharge letter on Wednesday of this week (23rd Septemeber)
Good luck ladies I hope you both get everything sorted out and you receive your discharge letters sooner rather than later.

Hi
Mark you were right, 2-3 weeks down the line still no letter. I phoned my TD and was told by the "closure dept" i will be sent a letter on 08/10/09 notifying me of a final meeting (What is this??)which will be held on 23/10/09 with me being discharged the next day on the 24/10/09.
Is it normal to have this final meeting and should i attend this?
Hi little miss
I have to say I'm not surprised. I won't be surprised either if the 8th October letter doesn't arrive. Sorry to be so cynical, however it appears their response is a direct reslt of your question. Either that or they had your file in front of them to deal with when you called.
You should call and ask if they have made a final distribution to your creditors.

Hi Mark
I got a letter dated 15th October, final meeting to be held on the 29th. The letter advises at the start of the TD it would be likely my creditors would receive 12.6p for every ?ú however due to unexpected administration costs there will be no dividend and the admin costs have costed more than my contributions of ?ú7200.
It also states the creditors can apply to have the account audited but there will be a fee for this.
I'm just hoping i get discharged by end of Oct.
Hi there
I see no reason why this will not conclude on the date stated as the Trust Deed can be finalised with no dividend.
Unless there have been ongoing issues with the Trust Deed, I am surprised (orpossibly not) that they have a fee in excess of ?ú7k.

Hi
Finally got my discharge letter on Friday, it has been a hard slog but i am just glad it is over.
I was young and naive when i entered into debt, what advice can you give to help me rebuild my credit rating and what chances do i have in getting a mortgage?
thanks
Hello little miss,
I'm really pleased to hear that the discharge has come through. Congratulations on the completion of your Trust Deed.
Anything that's on your credit file will stay there for six years so you are stuck with the Trust Deed on your file for a while yet. However, the most recent events on your credit history can carry more weight than things that happened a long time ago. This provides an opportunity to layer good credit history on top of the previous difficulties.
If you have a mortgage you should make sure that every payment is made in full and on time each month.
My next suggestion is one that you will have to weigh up based upon your personal situation and attitudes; it may not be appropriate for you unless you are sure it will be controlled as I suggest. There are credit cards with very high interest rates available to people who have had credit problems. You could take one of these cards with a low credit limit. You could then use it for one purchase per month (a tank of petrol or a supermarket shop for example) and then pay it off, in full, as soon as you get the bill each month (thus avoiding interest). This again will layer good credit history on top of the bad but isn't a good idea for everyone.
In terms of a mortgage there are too many external factors to say whether or not you will get a mortagage. However working on your credit record and saving up the very biggest deposit that you possibly can are two things that will help you turn the odds in your favour over time.
Best wishes for the future and please feel free to continue to join in the forum discussions. Having completed a Trust Deed your experience would be valuable for other visitors contemplating how to deal with their debt concerns.
I have been following the ups and downs of various people on this site and was happy to hear of the recent discharges!! However I'm a bit concerned that despite my last payment to Invocas 2 months ago I'm still no further forward with a discharge. In fact I have just, in the last 2 days, received statements from 2 of my creditors looking for money!! I thought this was all behind me? Any advice?
I think that all you can do is to keep on at your trustee I'm afraid, Liana. The more of an irritant you are the more likely they will get everything sorted out, just for an easier life I reckon! They should also get in touch with any creditors that are still contacting you to ensure that they stop doing so.
Don't worry! I'm sure these problems will disappear before long..
Will keep plugging away and will keep you posted!!
Thanks
Can i ask a question please?
After a trust deed what is an investigation?
Cheers
Hi huggie
I'm afraid you'll need to expand on your question. Where did you see this and what was it referring to. Do you mean at the start of the Trust Deed or at the end?
