HI ALL
IM JUST ABOUT TO ENTER INTO A TRUST DEED WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF THE DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWANCE WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT AS HOUSEHOLD INCOME ALTHOUGH ITS FOR MY SON ???
THANKS IN ADVANCE
KEV
As with any other social security benefit, a contribution cannot be sought by a trustee from DLA, though it can be taken into account when assessing how much you can afford from any earned income you have.
Therefore it is very important to make sure that your prospective trustee takes into account any extra costs that you incur in relation to your son's disability.
Hi Kev
Generally they will take account of all household income, however hopefully this will be balanced by an element of expenditure for him.
Have you had sight of the income & expenditure and contribution and agreed this.

hi mark
Yes they have put extra onto other areas to hopefully counter act this, Just was not sure as this money is for my son and his care not for ourselves.
kev
Hi he is 11 nearly 12.
I think this all makes sense then. I was just thinking about your sons age in terms of his financial dependency upon you.
DLA is paid to cover additional financial needs. So long as those needs have been covered in your expenditure allowances it seems like everyone involved is being treated fairly.
