My Trust Deed was fully paid up in December 2011. I finally received a letter that confirmed I was discharged by my Trustee in June, however they have not been discharged. On my credit file it still shows as accounts non settled and wondering how long does this process go on or if anything I can do but wait?
Hi Nearlyfinished
The failure for Trustees to discharge themselves is outwith their control due to Paymex v HMRC decision re VAT on Trust Deeds. Once they have resolved the VAT issue, the AIB will no doubt be inundated with Discharges!

Hi Mark
Thanks. The AIB shows I am discharged, does that mean I can contact the creditors and ask them to reflect that in my Credit Record? Or do I need to wait till they are?
Hi NearlyFinished.
You should be able to get your credit file updated to reflect your discharge from the trust deed and the debts. See:
I am waiting until my trustee is discharged before chasing anything up,I know from my case manager that final dividend cheques have been sent out and am waiting on creditors cashing them before my trustee can discharge himself.

Trust deed completed Jan 2012,Trustee discharge Nov 2012.
A new dawn.
Sorry to butt in on this post but although my Trustees told me a year ago that I was discharged, and now I know I am but they are not, the AIB register field showing date of my discharge is empty - does this mean that they haven't discharged me properly after all?
Hi Wikikee
It may be an idea to speak with the AIB and get clarification.
I know there was a delay in recording these, but not to this extent.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but to be honest as I'm more confused than ever, I have written a letter to my Trustees, asking them to confirm exactly what is going on with my TD, but I would like to tell them if I do not hear from them within a reasonable timescale I would ask the FSA for help - is it the FSA that covers complaints with regards to TDs?
Hi WIKIKEE.
It isn't the Financial Services Authority that cover Scottish trust deeds.
The usual route for complaints is:
1 - Complain directly to your trustee.
2 - If unhappy with the response, take it to the professional regulatory body of which your trustee is a member (details may well be on letterhead or their website).
