Hi all,
Looking for some advice. My husband completed his ptd in may this year and has not had any discharge letter from the trustee. I finished mine in April and I received my discharge at start of August.
My husband has been chasing his letter and has received an email from the trustee to tell him he can't be discharged until the PPI claim has been dealt with. However I received a letter from Egg about PPI after my discharge to say my claim had been upheld and my trustee had received a cheque.
Would there be a reason why it seems a different case for my husband?
Thanks!
HI
I WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING-I DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHY MY DISCHARGE LETTER HADNT COME THROUGH 6 MONTHS AFTER THE TD FINISHED ! I WENT ON THIS SITE WORRIED SICK BECAUSE WHEN I ASKED THE TD FIRM WHAT WAS THE HOLD UP I WAS TOLD THAT THE PPI CLAIMS WERE HOLDING IT UP- THE TRSUST DEED EXPERT SHONA REPLIED SAYING THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!! THERE IS NO REASON WHY PPI CLAIMS SHOULD HOLD UP THE DISCHARGE LETTER. I WAS REALLY UPSET SO I NAMED AND SHAMED THE TD FIRM ON THIS SITE AND GUESSS WHAT? GOT A CALL TO SAY TH EDISCHARGE WAS ON ITS WAY SO MY ADVICE....PHONE THE TD COMPANY AND DISCUSS WHAT THE EXPERTS ON THIS SITE ARE SAYING...IF NECESSARY NAME THE TD FIRM AND CHALLENGE THEM. I WISH I HAD DONE THAT 6 MONTHS AGO AND SAVED MYSELF 6 MORE MONTHS OF ANXIETY SO THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE...CHALLENGE THEM NAME THEM ON HERE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS !!! GOOD LUCK YOU ARE ALMOST THERE. Hello melaniec.
Here we go... my 3000th trust deed forum post!
Is there a hold-up with this PPI claim? It might be worth digging into the status of his claim if that is the reason trust deed discharge is being delayed.
Mac's point may well be relevant, though I think that applies only if the trust deed was signed after April 1st 2008 only. I don't think we want to see the forum used for "naming and shaming" purposes (though I'm glad that Mac was able to get their issue fixed after using the forum). Posters are of course welcome to write about their experiences so long as they are prepared to take responsibility for what they write. I think though that rather than "naming and shaming", the site is at its best when it helps by giving people the information they need to influence situations and get issues resolved through direct communication with their firm.
Yes TDA is correct. If the Trust Deed was signed after April 2008, it is much quicker for the debtor to be discharged that if the Trust Deed was signed before 2008. You would have to check when your Trust Deed ws signed, and then take it up with the Trustee. I am sure a phone call may do the trick. The site is great for people to post their own experiences & get advise, but as TDA says, we do not want to be known as a forum of name and shame.....we can all make mistakes! How we go about resolving problems is more important.
Shona is not currently posting in the Trust-Deed.co.uk forum.
As with a lot of things in life, if you keep on at someone and make yourself enough of an irritant then you may well find that they make your case a priority just to get you off their case!
3000 posts indeed, trust deed assistant! You really need to get out more.
