my trust deed has been finished since 2008, but just recently i have been receiving letters from a company representing one of my creditors named on the deed. they say they have now taken over this debt? and i must pay them, they want copies of the trust deed ( which was protected) Has anyone ever experienced this? and can anyone offer advice

Hello amyloo and welcome to the trust deed forum.

This has been mentioned by a few people here over the years. It's generally the result of the purchaser not being informed by the seller about the protected trust deed.

The good news is that if the debt was covered by the trust deed, no matter what they say or do, it simply doesn't exist any longer.

They cannot do anything to you.

You may choose to provide them with some further information to get them off your back if you'd like to.

Hi amyloo

It's something which seems to be a wee bit more frequent nowadays, although they're probably just chancing their arm.

You should be able to get discharge dates etc from the Register of Insolvencies to advise them of the position or if you have a spare copy of the Trust Deed, you could forward a copy.
