Does anyone know how long it takes for a date of discharge to be shown on the insolvency register at all?

I have access to it at work and my date isn't showing yet (7th September)

Hi tinsoldier.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer. One of our experts or members may know and be able to share the information. You could probably call the AIB helpline and confirm it with them if you wanted to.

Hi tinsoldier

There's a strange anomoly in the closing discharge process which I highlighted to AIB. Apparently it's being discussed by policy unit.

You should have received Form 5 and I would have expected the discharge and trustees discharge to be recorded in 4-6 weeks after Form 5.

Hi tinsoldier

Sorry, I'm guessing you signed pre April 2008.

Process changed after that date to make it far easier, but if it's pre April 2008, then you'll be fine. There's a need to call a creditors meeting etc etc, but it's a formality and it sounds fine. Consider it done & dusted.

Mark, if you don't mind me asking, what are the differences post April 2008? I signed November 2008, was protected December 2008 and should complete January next year. Are discharges post april 2008 more complicated and drawn out? My trustee expects it to take up to 4 months to get discharged.

I know, I'm hoping that's the longest it's likely to take and I'll get a nice surprise of a discharge letter in the post a few weeks before that. It's Invocas that's dealing with mine and, although I've never had any problems with them, I've read other posts that they can take a while discharging people. At least I can cancel the direct debit in January and the rest's just a waiting game. I'm sure they'll be fine. Sometimes you only ever hear about a companys failings.

Hi gillian.

The comments about that company being slow closing cases were quite some time ago. A representative of the company contacted us that the time and told us they were bringing in additional resources to get caught up. To be fair, the comments here about slow closure seemed to stop a little while after that.

That's good to know. When I asked them, they said about 4 months but I asked earlier this year so that might have changed. It's good that they came and explained a situation that they had rectified. To be honest, unless it's getting on for a year, I'm not too fussed about having to sit tight for a bit while everything gets tied up. The only thing I'd like is a current account as opposed to the one I've got. The halifax said they'd review once I'd been discharged.
As I said, I've had no problems with Invocas. They've been approachable and always been happy to answer any concerns I've had. Hopefully I'll never have to deal with them again once this is all over.

Hi Gillian

Sorry for the delay. Yes, post April 2008 TD's are generally easier following the new regulations. You should be issued with FORM 5 which discharges you. The trustee can then proceed to wind down the case before applying for his own discharge.

Checked today and my entry had been updated to say discharged!

Final piece of the jigsaw for me. Great feeling.

Well done ts. It's always good to hear about a Trust Deed with a start, middle & especially an end.

Really glad it's all worked out.
