Hi
Might be a silly question but I am wanting to get my credit report and basically looking to get this for free or small charge. Years ago I had log onto experian, but when I try this now it wanting ยฃ20 a month which I dont have spare as still in TD (finish Feb 14). I been onto noddle but that doesnt actually give you credit score and this is what I want to see. I know it will properly still be poor but since been in TD - I have a mobile which pay monthly and always on time plus applied for vanquis credit card which is up to date (only use for food bill then pay straight away) just wondered if this is helping at all.

Thanks in advance and sorry to go on lol

Hi Sharon

I think Experien and a couple of other offer 30 days free, although i'm not sure if there are terms and conditions applied to this.

Hi sharon21.

When we looked into it we thought that the CreditExpert service from Experian was the best for the purpose of clearing up a credit file.

There's a free trial widely available (including via the link below) but it isn't cheap after that period if you choose not to (or forget to) cancel it.

I think we were writing at the same time!

Might be worth looking at whether Equifax or CallCredit are offering free trials. I'd be surprised if they weren't.

Hi Sharon21,

I used both Experian and Equifax back in April of this year and found the Experian one to be the most user friendly and best in my opinion.

Experian provided my credit score for free of charge within their free 30 day trial. As you have used this already I think you would have to pay for their service.

Equifax was good but within their free service it didn't give me my credit score. I had to pay ยฃ5 for this which I didn't do as Experian had given me it for free.

CreditExpert (Experian) came out top in the Which study for completeness of information when we were researching our credit file page. Completeness and being up-to-date are obviously pretty important if you're trying to get your file in shape after a trust deed.

I wouldn't worry about the "credit score" aspect of this too much. In general terms it means relatively little and isn't used by lenders as far as we're aware. We've heard from people with very high credit scores that haven't been accepted for credit and vice versa.
