Hi
I was discharged from my TD in August 2016. I have looked at my credit report on Noddle which shows the defaulted accounts as being 'Satisfied', but on Experian they still show as 'Default' albeit with a zero balance. The information states that although the debt has been settled it will always show as a default and never move into the 'Settled' status.
Does this sound correct?

Thanks,

Domino99

Well as part of your TD, the creditors will have received some payment so at the very least, the entries in your credit report should be marked as Partially Settled, if not Settled. I would write to the lenders concerned (recorded delivery). Send them a copy of your discharge (Form 5) and ask them to update the credit agency to mark the entry as settled or partially settled.

I did this, it took a few months to get them all to do it and I even had to go to the ICO for a couple of them but they all complied eventually. You just need some patience and perseverance.

To add to Mapleleaf's post, ncheck the default dates on each defaulted account and if they differ, highlight the date the Trust Deed was signed and ask them to change the date to reflect the date of signing. Important to do that so your Trust Deed and defaults will fall of your credit report 6 years from that date.

Hi Domino99.

In terms of the default status reporting, does it continue on until now (e.g. for January) or stop soon after your discharge?

Can you find the actual Default Notice issue dates? Do they have satisfied or partially satisfied marked next to them? I might be wrong, but something in the back of my mind is saying there's a separate section for this on Experian reports.

Hi
It would seem it pays to complain! Credit file updated and a nice addition of a ยฃ100 cheque in compensation#128578;. Even better, I just heard I have been accepted for car finance on a new car!
Thanks to everyone for great advice as ever.

Hi Domino99.

Brilliant. Good for you on both counts.

We've heard more and more from people being offered compensation for creditor failures to update credit records upon discharge. It generally seems to follow complaints being made. Just throwing this out there in case anyone is about to start tackling errors on their own credit file!!
