Welcome to the forum chronje.

It's always useful to get feedback on banking options during trust deeds. As we've read over the past day or two it can be a real worry for people that they'll have a reliable account in place.

Hi
I have now spoken to my bank and they are happy to allow me to continue banking using their basic account.
This means that they will just transfer funds and all direct debits etc. to new account, saving on all the grief of moving to a different bank.
Very happy with that!

That's great news davebs.

Did you get an answer from your chosen insolvency practitioner on the property valuation?

Hi Davebs
Have been with Clydesdale for over twentyfive years, including entering into a td three years ago and coming out of it two weeks ago.I also had, and still have, ยฃ1000 overdraft facility which I am constantly in and out of but have not experienced any problems with them.
Having said that, I don't actually know if they were ever aware I was in a td ! I know at the beginning I was told to change bank accounts but it never happened and I continued banking with them without ever being questioned by anybody from Clydesdale, and this despite my td payment to my practitioner coming out this account on the first of every month for the last three years.

I think with Clydesdale bank and probably the majority of banks it will be luck more than anything as to whether the discover the trust deed. However if there are no issues soon after it's signed, it's probably unlikely there will be future issues.

I think having a 2nd bank available account is alway a good idea. Just in case!

I have just been into the Clydesdale bank today and no joy in opening a basic account. They were really nice about it but said it wasn't there policy and if they opened it they would have to close it as soon as I signed the trust deed. Any ideas what other banks I can go to?

Seems to be little rhyme or reason when it comes to bank accounts! The Cooperative Bank Cashminder account is a popular choice for those entering into a trust deed.

Hi
I have continued to bank with the Clydesdale throughout my Trust Deed. I have a Rapid repayment mortgage account that used to have all our direct debits etc. We moved them to a basic savings account along with our wages and then just transferred funds over to the mortgage account as and when required. We retained our cheque books for the mortgage account, but we lost any over limit facilities.
We are now just at the end of our Trust Deed and have gone back to the bank to ask about a new mortgage, as we wish to move to the other side of the country. They are now considering this.
Over all they have been quite helpful. But will not allow you to over draw by a much as a penny.
Hope this helps.

Regards
