Well i wish to start by saying if i had found this site 3 and a half years ago my life would have been alot easier.
I completed my 3 years of trust deed in October and was discharged in December :).. Very happy..
Havent looked back since. The feeling is amazing having wages to myself once again and looking to a future clear and stress free.
Since completing I decided i would start to clean up my credit file.
I am looking to buy a property in the next 5 years or so and even though at the moment its a dream and im saving I do realise how important having everything cleaned up is.
to my horror when I got a copy of my credit file I found a certain company had still to April this year been marking late payments against me. Not even a default just late payments. by my understanding a default will fall away after 6 years from default date. but if its still marked as late payment then how can it fall away.
I was horrified and wrote to company including both my original trustdeed papaer work aswell as discharge letter and sent recorded delivery. The company then got back to me saying they would not be updating it as they didnt find the enclosed documents proof enough.
I have since wrote away again. 3 weeks ago with no reply at all now.
Is there anything I can do.
I feel this horrible company are making me pay for my mistakes over and over again.
The company btw to make matters worse are Welcome Finance Service.
{Please help im at wits end and dont know what to do. I have told them i will inform the information comis and they just dont seem to care.
thanks in advance
Welcome to the trust deed forum Jenna1503 and congratulations on completing your trust deed. I'm glad that this has been such a positive for you.
I'd suggest making a formal written complaint to Welcome. Include a copy of the discharge paperwork and confirmation that the debt no longer exists. Give them a reasonable period of time to correct the incorrect entries on your credit report, but make it clear you will complain to the Information Commissioners Office if they continue to report false information to the credit reference agencies.
I think you'll find that their complaints department take care of this, but if they do not the ICO will I'm sure push them to get it done.
I don't think so Kevin. The ICO is the best bet but only after allowing welcome time to get it sorted.
Jenna, well done on completing the trust deed,it is a great feeling finally being debt free!

Trust deed completed Jan 2012,Trustee discharge Nov 2012.
A new dawn.
I think the problem might be that even if the previous errors were corrected, if Welcome continued to report erroneous information in the future the corrected problem would be replicated.
Hopefully Welcome's complaints department can deal with such a straightforward issue easily enough though.
