Hi everyone.
A question re cheques. My husband, who is in a trust deed, is maybe going to be training to get an HGV license. His dad has offered to pay for this. (thank god cos we couldn't afford it!!) you pay for things in sections, and his dad has said he will write him cheques for each part... My husband says he doesn't want to risk putting the cheques into our acc as they will be picked up on during our reviews. Can he cash them at a shop that cashes cheques? ie cash converters? Or is this illegal?
Can't his father simply make the cheques payable to HGV training company....?
Thanks for the replies ๐
Unfortunately the company he is going with don't accept cheques as a method of payment ๐ I'll try persuade him to contact his IP. His worry is that somehow his dad will find out about the TD- if the trustee says he needs to confirm why he is giving the money... If he does decide to cash them at a cheque shop, is this breaking any legal rules? If so then I'll be putting my foot down!
Dont waste money at cheque cashing centres. Just keep receipts from the course to offset the cheques going into your account. Let your trustee know what your doing and it wont be a problem.

Best to be up front with the trustee. I'm sure there won't be any problem. If he tries to go under the radar then it just risks arousing suspicion if the trustee picks up on it somehow.
Asking for receipts is a perfect plan. Never even thought of it... U spend that long trying to think of a solution that the obvious answer stares u in the face!!
Thanks everyone
If only I was as quick with solutions to my own past troubles!!!

Hello forum I am new to here but have watched for a long time.
I have a question to do with this topic. I have cashed a cheque at ramsdens before. I did not know that this is not allowed. Is it against the law? And are my trust deeds firm going to find out? I am now very worried
I got given a cheque for selling my guitar. I cashed it there because I needed the cash quickly. I don't know what to do. I am fearing I am in trouble.
Hi Skippytree.
Unless it was of very substantial value I doubt that you have anything at all to worry about.
The problem is just where a cheque cashing service is used to hide money that was due to a trust deed.
But when they find out about this cheque am I then going to have to pay this amount into the trust deeds? Will I be prosecuted? I don't know what is a substantial amount but my guitar was my pride and joy and sold it for a lot less that what it is worth to pay a garage to fix up my car.
The guitar wouldnt have been an asset included in the trust deed so dont worry.
