I have been in trust deed since May 2010 and I will be due to make my final payment in April. When I started the trust deed I had moved back home with my mum who has retired as I was struggling to pay my debts. However, since starting this I have met my boyfriend and we are planning on moving in together. I suddenly realised though that if I do this before the end of the trust deed will his income have to be taken into account? I hadn't even considered this bfore but have a horrible feeling this might be the case and obviously my debt had nothing to do with him so I don't want to drag him into this.

Thanks for any advice.

You only have to pay whatever you can reasonably afford from your own income - his income does not directly come into the equation.

Your contribution would have to be reviewed as your living costs will have changed. This involves your trustee working out what is left over from your wage after you have paid out your personal living costs and your share of your joint household bills.

Hi Kevin, thanks for replying. Okay, that's a relief I just didn't want to drag hon into the trust deed so thankfully that doesn't sound like it will happen.

As long as you are both paying a fair share of the household expenses it wont be a problem. Life doesnt stop just because a trust deed is in place although it may feel like that at times!!!

Good luck with the moving in together.

Paul
