Hi all,
I know this has probably been covered a million times but I have a few questions so would like to keep it all in the same place if possible.
I have had my trust deed since November 2010 (nearly finsihed, yay) and my original I&E I was earning £14,000. Since then my wages have dropped to around £11k - which I informed my trustee of but I was able to maintain payments so nothing changed - rose to £15 and then £16k - again I informed my trustee and was told to submit an amended I&E but to include current expense also as realistically all costs had increased in the past few years. Each time I did this, I sent an amended I&E by email and it was accepted with no questions.
I am now onto my 3rd advisor with this company (which is a bit frustrating as no one actually told me when the previous 2 had left, I just got bored of not getting replies to emails). My current advisor is now asking for a full current status update including payslips and a new I&E but she can't send me my most recent I&E "for security reasons". I'm not trying to fiddle costs - just put things in the same format and under the same headings and so that I can explain any big increases in certain costs (if necessary).
I'm fine with filling in the form but it's also asking for bank accounts & balances (that I don't particualarly want to disclose and then send in the post?) and my only account now is joint with my husband so not all income is mine. As it is we're living week to week so I'm terrified they're going to ask me to up my contribution 'cause I honestly cannot afford it.
Also - I'm 4 months pregnant and due to go on maternity leave in August. I will still have 3 payments to make which I am happy to do so at my current contribution in order to get it all in the past and not to extend the period - but I don't know if this will be acceptable? The advisor isn't very forthcoming with info.
So basically -
Do I have the right to see the I&E they have on file for me?
Can they take my hustband's income into account? (TD and debts are in my name only)
Can I continue paying my contribution even on half of my salary during Mat Leave?
I know my advisor is there to help me with the above but she doesn't!
Hi Claree
In answer to your questions:
1. I don't see any reason why this should not be made available. Not sure where the 'security' issue comes from.
2. Yes, but on insofar as he contributes to the monthly expenses ie he will pay a portion of mortgage, gas, electricity etc.
3. Yes, as long as the payment ios affordable. They key point ios to meet the target set at the outset ie if you agreed 36 paymemnts of £200, then you need to reach £7,200. Any reduction in contribution would require an extension although the extension would require to be over a reasonable period.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your help.
My husband pays half of everything (and then some) so I'm not claiming to be paying everything and he's just swanning about but I'm reluctant to disclose my bank account number, why would they need this? I can send them payslips and bank statements (at a push, never been asked for them before?) but there's just a huge part of me going "never give out account numbers...never give out account numbers" [:p]
Hopefully in 8 months time this is all behind me. It's been plain sailing so far (except periods of no contact with my advisor 'cause they've left the company!) but the most recent one doesn't seem very helpful at all!

If anything, refusing to provide them may lead to some suspicion at the other end.
Oh no, I'm fine with providing the statements - it's just they've only asked for the account number and current balance which I found a bit odd, like they're going to check that themselves?
Best just to send bank statements and they can get all the information they need from that. I very much doubt they would go to the trouble of trying to get the information from the bank themselves.
It's unlikely that they will contact the bank directly if you provide bank statements. Not entirely sure why they are asking for the account number to be honest when this will be on the statements.
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

The thing is - they've not asked for statements, just the account number. If they'd asked for them I'd have no problem providing them, but they've not - just the account number and current balance.
To be honest I'm getting slightly stressed about this (perhaps 'cause I'm pregnant and can go from fine to hysterical at the drop of a hat :D). I'm just terrified they're going to look at our joint income and see that most bills don't come out of an account in my name but I'm transfering money into a seperate account in a lump sum (along with my husband's contribution) which they do come out of - so I can't provide statements of that.
I wouldn't stress about it Claree_x. You've got far more important things to put your energy into.
If you've got nothing to hide there really shouldn't be anything to fear.
I'm sure lots of people manage their household finances in similar ways.
In my opinion they might just be checking that you are using the same account they've always known about - maybe they think you've got a secret account with your secret lottery winnings in it 🙂 I remember giving my trustees my account number and balance on the specific date I completed the review and since it was nearly the end of the month it didn't have very much in it. If you are worried about the security aspect of it, give them it over the phone, I'm sure its just routine and part of the review. At least you've been able to adjust your expenditure, I was told mine was set in stone and despite one salary increase the first year and increased outgoings my payments were never ever changed. I've learnt lots of lessons from this forum and wish I'd found it before entering into my TD. Good luck I'm sure everything will work out fine. They will be a reputable company and will do nothing untoward with the details.
I ended up speaking to a different advisor on Friday to try to stop my (ridiculous) stressing. She told me not to fill in the form 'cause it's not necessary and she wouldn't in my position either - and just send her my I&E and payslips. I figure it's for people who have savings? I dunno. Also sent me a copy of what they've got on file for I&E so I'm not sure what the first advisor was told!
She also advised to let them know when I go on Maternity Leave and they'll close off my trust deed as of then because there's no point in extending it to get 1 or 2 more payments from me. Surprised was not the word.
Wondering if I can just speak to this woman all the time - lol!
Thanks for all your help x
