I was wondering if anyone could help me with advice. I am in the last 6 months of my trust deed and lived with my fianc?®. Unfortunately he passed away suddenly and his family have asked me if I could help out with regards to funeral finances as he had no life cover, savings or insurance. They are not wealthy people and cannot afford to pay the funeral up front and as I contributed with the arrangements therefore I feel its only right to help out with costs. As I am in a trust deed, all my finances are accounted for and do not have any spare money to help with this. Is there any help and advice anyone could offer me. Thanks

I'm really sorry for your loss. x

Would you, or his family, maybe qualify for a funeral payment?

Tried that already, since none of us are on or claimed benefits, we are not eligible.

Thanks anyway x

So sorry for your loss.

If you speak to your ip they might allow you to miss a couple of payments to help out, Then make them up at the end. It's not much but every penny will help and as tanyadm has said the link that they have posted is there for these unfortunate times..

Sorry for your loss.

I'm thinking your trustee may allow you to miss some payments and allow you to catch up at the end by extending your trust deed to allow you to repay your missed payments - worth asking - surely they will understand the situation you are in. Did your partner work? Just watch - in case he was employed you don't receive any payments from pensions or work benefits which may be paid out upon death your IP may take this. Sorry to mention that but I guess it's important.

Thanks.

He was self employed and had only just started a trust deed. The house was in his name and is being sold to settle the debt, therefore there is nothing that will come back on him, hence we are liable for the funeral bill. Its all such a mess.

Hi Jewels174.

I just wanted to add my condolences and best wishes.

I do hope that arrangements can be made that help to ensure that the funeral expenses can be taken care of.

A trustee should surely show some flexibility in these circumstances. I'm very sorry for your loss, Jewels174.

What a horrible situation to find yourself in, my heart goes out to you, I can only imagine how heartbreaking your situation is without having to deal with money worries too. Can also only offer kind words and cross my fingers that your Trustee shows some compassion.

Thank you for all the kind words. My Trustee has allowed me a payment break of 2 months, which isn't great but will help. Thanks again for all the advice from everyone.
