I opened a basic bank account with Barclays last September. I received a letter from them today saying that I qualify for an upgrade to the normal bank account. Think the only difference is I can get a contactless debit card! [:D]
But just goes to show keeping your account in order and in credit seems to work (with barclays at least!)
Co op wont upgrade us until 6 years from the trust deed starting.
I want to switch to nationwide but they wont touch you for 6 years from the start of any insolvency.

Trust deed completed Jan 2012,Trustee discharge Nov 2012.
A new dawn.
Barclays even offer an overdraft (subject to status lol)! On a serious note I no longer feel like a banking leper!
At the risk of sounding like a salesman for Barclays, that normally the bank I point people towards.
Not that long ago there seemed to be 3 or 4 banks which offered accounts. However, strangely the opening of bank accounts appears to be more restricted that previously, although there are still one or 2 basic ones available.

They couldn't have been more helpful to me when I explained that I was in a TD. Also their banking app is great, always up to date.
I opened an account with Nationwide 3 years ago, telling them at the time that i was due to enter a Trust Deed. They still took me, gave me a visa debit account and even offered me a ยฃ1000 overdraft.
How crazy is that?
After reading your story my husband and I decided to apply for a current account with Barclays, we both had a score on Noodle of 3/5, gutted today to come home to a letter from Barclays saying no due to our credit rating.
I know it was perhaps a bit early as it has only been 2 years since I was discharged from my sequestration but I thought it was worth a try, now I am kicking myself as a failed application will now show on my credit file ๐

Hi TDA, no, we applied online for their current account, we have Co-Op Cashminder accounts at the moment and due to the recent problems the Co-Op have had we thought we should try to get an account with another bank.
We both have no debt, credit cards that get paid in full every month and thought that as our scores were ok with Noodle it was worth a try, just a bit annoyed with myself for trying in the first place and now having a detrimental entry on my credit file.
Never mind, you live and learn, we actually have quite a healthly savings account but that for some reason doesn't show on credit file.
