Hi there
I started my trust deed roughly 6 and a half years ago and I finished paying it 3 and a half years ago.I'm now thinking of trying to go for a mortgage as I have a good deposit now but I have recently checked my credit report and it is not good as it is still showing that I owe bos money and it also shows that I've missed lots of payments.am I right in saying that this shouldn't be on it as it is over 6 years since start date?

If the date was from before you signed the Trust Deed then yes, it should have been marked as satisfied or settled and the default date aligned with the start of the Trust Deed.

Unfortunately, some creditors seem to overlook doing this sometimes - you should therefore get in touch with the bank and ask them to correct your credit file.

Hi Martin

I had to contact HBOS as well to get them to correct. Best advice I can give you, is email the CEO direct to complain. Ask for compensation as you are entitled to it. They cocked up twice with me in space of a few days. I got two lots of compensation at £150 a time.

Hi Martin984,

Well done on successfully completing your Trust Deed and saving a sufficient deposit to buy a property.

As Kevin and CIF have advised creditors don't automatically and correctly update your credit file.

You will need to contact Bank of Scotland and request that they update your credit file to reflect that you have been discharged from your Trust Deed.

Like CIF said, you may need to complain to have the matter resolved quickly.

Let us know how you get on.
