Has anyone managed to get one of these after being discharged?

I have had another of these email invitations.

NB It's for their store card, NOT their credit card which is underwritten by Vanquis. Store card seems to be undrwritten by Argos parent company.

Hi CIF

It will be interesting to see how you get on should you decide to apply. I'm not sure I remember anyone applying for one or being asked to apply.

I've been doing this job long enough and get the feeling that the credit world is changing again and more money is being made available. Or maybe I'm watching too much day time TV!

Not convinced I am going to apply Mark. I don't actually need anything from there at the moment but I am just keen to repair my rating as fast as possible. I've been approved for three new accounts in the last week (Luma, Aqua, Next) and my TD doesn't drop off the file for another 6 months. Already have 2.5k Vanquis limit too.

Ultimate goal is remortgage as quick as I can. Currently with NRAM!!

Hi CIF.

This might be a two-sided sword.

Higher credit limits in one sense demonstrates that certain lenders trust you.

In another sense, even if you haven't used them, they demonstrate that you have the ability to source a lot of very expensive credit in a short period of time. That might make you seem a more risky prospect to certain lenders.

Yeah I know TDA - all depends on the lender. However it is better than me sitting with little or no credit at all. That scenario we know is damaging at least.

Hi Cif

I applied for the argos store card and got declined. I was only 6weeks post discharge at the time though. In hindsight, my TD has only just been amended on my credit file to discharged. I'm not sure if that would have made any difference. I
