If I was to get paid overtime but was outwith the 36 months payments and all the requirements of the trust deed had been met, would I have to still pay a percentage of any bonuses or overtime paid to me? There's talk of work buying time off us at the end of the year which, if it happened, would be paid at the end of January. My last payment comes off at the beginning of January. I won't have been discharged by then as my trustee reckons it'll take a few months to sort out. Just wondering - it would be nice to start debt free life with a little cash.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
As far as I know, as soon as your 36 payments are completed, anything you make afterwards is yours to keep. Might have to pay a little, depends what your trustee says.
Morning TDA,
If rumours are to be believed, my work are going to buy any unused time at the end of the year to be paid in January, so given what I have at the moment, that could be about Β£1000. I understand if I need to pay it over but it would have been nice to keep it. A small price to pay though for being debt free.

I think I'll just assume I have to pay 50% like I did with my bonus and that way if I get to keep it, it'll be a pleasant surprise. I'm hoping seeing as the last payment should go round about the 1st of January, I shouldn't have to do another statement of affairs.

Well I thought I'd ask them and so I emailed them to find out. Found out that the person managing my trust deed has left so I phoned to find out what was going on. Spoke to the person I've been assigned to and he confirmed my last payment will be january, I won't have to do another expense form and I won't have to pay over any additional money once the last payment has been made. I'm sure he could tell how happy I was over the phone.
If I get the overtime payment, I'll keep half of it stashed so if they do need me to pay it and the bloke has made a mistake, it won't extend my trust deed further. I'm so happy I'm on the home stretch now. Unfortunately, I'm mentally spending the extra money, panicking then mentally saving it[:)].

That's great gillian. I can't wait to be in your position, my TD will hopefully become protected today, then 42 months to go π
