Sitting at my desk at work today and got a message from the company who dealt with my Trust Deed to give them a call ASAP..... So in a panic I phoned them to be told that I had completed and discharged from my Trust Deed in May 2013 which obviously I was totally aware of..... I was then told that one of my creditors had just sent in a cheque for over £3K in PPI to them, and as I had been discharged I was entitled to the money, minus any commission.....[:D]
So to say am well chuffed is a complete understatement, once again thanks Mark........
No plans yet, just put it in the bank..... Luckily since being discharged I've been able to build up some savings, so no urgent need to spend anything......
That's fantastic news
Minus commission for doing what though!!!
I personally never applied for PPI refund, it was done by my Trustee.... So not for one second did I ever expect to get a penny back in PPI compensation...... So I for one ain't gonna quibble over paying commission for something I never expected..... Am just happy to receive something back !!
Hi porcupine
People tend to panic over the calls thinking something's wrong, so it's always good to give some good news for a change.
We have a company who deal with our PPI and we try our hardest to tie things up as close to the end of the trust deed as possible. Sometimes payments come after the discharge, so it's always a nice wee surprise.

That's great news for you porcupine. Even better news that you've been saving and can tuck it away for now.
This subject confuses me though. Why do some people get to keep it and others don't? My trustee is still in office, pending PPI claims, there are none, because any that I took I agreed to willingly. I thought the idea of staying in office was that the creditors would get any payment. Very conflicting information on here regarding this.

Hi saabrina
It all hinges on the discharge of the trustee. We always try and take a balanced view on these things and didn't think keeping a trust deed live for another year to year and a half on the basis that one PPI claim may or may not payout and if it did may be offset was valid enough reason to keep the case open. In any event, the additional fees and costs in extending the time by a year or 2 would have outweighed any benefit.

Do you ever sleep Mark ?
No, was a weird one though. Up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep.
Must be all the excitement of the Commonwealth Games!!!

Been lurking for a while...... But got some very pleasant news today almost 4 years to the day I received this bit of good news..... I was refused my PPI claim from Clydesdale Bank in 2012, which I accepted.... I was then contacted by Clydesdale Bank in May this year advising me that due to them losing a court case they were reviewing some of their PPI claims including mine, I didn't give it much thought to be honest only to come home today to a letter offering me a fairly healthy PPI payment, so a very pleasant surprise again......
Have to say after my PTD finished in 2013 I have managed to stay debt free and build up some decent savings plus life a darn good life... So you folks out there. like me seven years ago be positive there is a daylight ahead and a good future.... The pain was worth it in my case, all the best.....
That’s fantastic porcupine! Enjoy the funds. I’m sure they will come in handy.
