Hi again..I have now been on my trust deed for 4 years and 2 months with no sign of a discharge...I made my last payment last may and I was wondering if they can keep me on this trust deed as long as they like? ....and does this affect the time it will take me to repair my credit status.. ?... thanks...
Hi blackboab
In short, no. This should have been closed a considerable time ago. I assume it was a 3 year trust deed and there were no assets etc to be dealt with.
In our cases, it's normally 4 weeks for closure although pre April 2008 cases are a wee bit longer, but not to that extent.
You should phone your trustee and demand an explanation.

Hello again blackboab.
From previous threads I think your trust deed was extended to 41 months cover wage increases that you received during the trust deed (which depending upon the circumstances might be fair) but then you were hit with the news that after you'd completed your payments, your trust deed firm decided to launch PPI claims to try to raise more money for creditors.
Do you know what has happened with these PPI claims as yet? Is this still the reason for the delay?
In terms of rebuilding your credit record this delay may or may not be having an influence. There are certainly some steps, such as dealing with outstanding default notices on your credit file, that may be held up by delays in discharge.
Given that the entry of the trust deed will taint the credit record for 6 years from the date the trust deed became protected you still have plenty time to get things sorted.
No excuse to cling on to customers like this at all. Especially when the company are leaving you in the dark about whats going on.
