Hi,

Well thats my first month over with and so glad. It was hard but manageable. I know January will be a difficult month for myself and probably every other person in the country. But at least I know I paid for xmas with cash and wont have the dreaded credit card bill in January!!!

As per my previous post re not telling any family, friends or work colleagues. This has been the hardest for me as I have not put into the secret santa (waste of £10) or contributed to my managers xmas voucher (they earn twice what I do and just give us box sweets between 14 of us) Bah Humbug!!!

I do love xmas and it is for the children, even though I cut right back I was still able to give all my grandchildren decent present. I just missed out their parents!!! Well over the years they have done very well from me holidays, clearing their debt etc. So no I dont feel guilty I just told them I was cutting right back and had also cut up all my credit cards. My very good friends have been great as we agreed last year just to celebrate each others birthdays and forget gifts at xmas.

The only negativity I have had is in work, but hey I wonder if the people that have been quiet nasty to me will be dreading their credit card bills in January??

Anyway hope you all have a lovely xmas especially Mark, TDA and all the others who have all been great help to me and provided some excellent information on this forum.

Cheers Derek,

Dont know about you but I have read through the forum from the start!! Im at page 160. Am I sad?? Cant believe some of the horrendous stories on here. So glad that I found this forum, it was pure fluke. I had all but signed to another TD company but something made me want to check them a little further. Couldn't find anything about them on google, turned out they were the middle man. I stumbled across this forum and spent 5 hrs reading the posts. As I said previously I was so impressed with Marks advice and information to other people that I immediately contacted him. I had my meeting that week and signed the following.

This was just as well as the other company wanted £500 to protect equity and also because I had 3 BTL properties they wanted £500 for each one so therefore total of £2000. All the BTL are in negative equity and my own home only £2700. So Mark saved me £2000!!!!!

Good luck for the New Year, how many months have you to go??

Unfortunately i'm in 48 months TD so still got 47 to go.

I've read a fair few of the posts myself so if you're sad then so am i!

I wish i'd seen this site sooner as i had already signed up to middle man. Still, apart from couple of little issues, it seems to be going ok.

Wow - that's some effort, reading through the entire forum back catalogue.

As you will see, luby, according to my picture I haven't aged a day over the last few years. Unfortunately, it's like Dorian Gray in reverse and in real life I am getting increasingly haggard!

Hi Luby,

haha I am sad too! I started reading the threads when I had signed up, just wish I had found this site sooner. I will be 4 payments down at the end of the month and so glad I am having a debt free xmas too! We are only doing xmas pressies for our kids. My folks were not happy with not getting a pressie this year, but hey ho! I didn't do secret santa either - my £15 is much better spent on my kids.

One of the first things I did was to have an excel document with separate worksheets for each month of my TD detailing all my outgoings and a Pie Chart for each month showing my progress.
I find this invaluable and for most people being in a TD will make people manage their money better and learn that you can live without Credit Cards.
I have how devoured 24 slices out of my 36 slice pie and appreciate any spare cash I may have.
The time passes quickly and it does get easier.

Hi Diamond

I have done the same started an excel spread sheet. I also check my account daily with online banking. I have set up a text alert if my account falls below £20. I just need to get used to using cash more as that was my downfall I knew I had a big overdraft on my old account so kept using my card. Now I have no overdraft and it does really make me stop and think plus if Im using cash I tend to count things in my head going round the shops and put back if I know Im near what I have in my purse. I know it sounds silly but I have a couple of £1 coins in my purse when I get back from the shops I put them in my emergency box!!!

My 3rd payment die next week cant believe that's 3 down already. Feels like just yesterday I was plucking up the courage to contact Mark McFadyen who was brilliant.

Good Luckx

Louise
