I just wanted to share this story, although it has been touched on before in these forums, the person applying never seems to come back to say if they got the flat or not.

About a week ago, I came on here because I couldn't sleep. I had applied for a flat with my girlfriend but I was petrified because the agency were going to carry out a credit check. The advice on here was simple and consistent - BE HONEST, so I was.

I kept the agency informed from the first phone call about my situation. I put a letter together detailing how I had come to be in a Trust Deed and provided them with this at the viewing. They didn't seem to worry and they kept stressing that they appreciated my honesty from the get-go and I should be honest with them with anything else that may show up in the checks.

I was pro-active and when we decided to apply we made sure we had a guarantor available from day one as I knew my credit check would fail. I provided bank statements/pay slips, budget sheets and all the letters my Trustee had sent me too. The guys at the agency really seemed to appreciate that I had organised all this information without them asking.

Sure enough I failed the credit check but with the gurantor I was accepted. The good news is - WE GOT THE FLAT. I am over the moon. Mostly for my girlfriend to be honest because while she is aware of me being in a TD, I really didn't want that to stop her getting her dream home.

I wanted to share this with you all to let you know - IT IS POSSIBLE TO RENT PRIVATELY WHILE ON A TRUST DEED!!

So happy and now looking forward to April 5th!

That's great news Scotslad. I was wondering what had happened.

Party at Scotslad's house!

I'll bring the buckie.

Cheers,

DFW

Hi Scotslad

I'm really glad it worked out.

Your posts are the reason the forum works so well as there's so much mis information and bad advice out there( but not on this forum) that everyone is scared to ask questions and hope to get a decent & honest answer.

Situation and experiences will vary from person to person and IP to IP, but if conducted properly the Trust Deed can help to be the start of something and hopefully provide assistance for a fresh start.
