Hi
I have a scheme at work that allows staff to buy laptops, pc and stuff for Christmas then pay over 6 months with the money coming of your wages. Are you aloud to do this if you are on a trust deed as they see your wage slip and will ask if you pcan afford this then the money should be going to your creditor.
Hi Musselburgh1
This is something you will need to run past your trustee I'm afraid as there is no set rule. Personally as long as the monthly deduction was not excessive, I don't see it as an issue. It could probably be argued both ways, but that said, you can have 2 identical trust deeds where one is paying £400 rent and the other is paying £600, so do you ask the other one to move to a cheaper house?

Hi Musselburgh1,
I don't see it being an issue either as long as the payments are not excessive but as Mark said it's something which you will need to clarify with your own Trustee. Make sure when you clarify it you receive their views/decision in writing so later on down the line there aren't any issues.
If it is an issue then you could always argue that you would sacrifice a part of your budget to cover the cost of the purchase. If for example you decided to save a little on your food budget to pay for it then again I don't see this being an issue.
With things like this I think it's about trying to find a balance.
Let us know how you get on when you speak with your Trustee about it.
