Hi all,
I have nine payments to go with a three year KPMG trust deed and I just cannot wait to have paid the last payment next April. It's been a horrible struggle, made harder by the fact that my trustee increased payments from £200 to £327 recently and haven't taken much notice of increased costs of living etc.
What I'd like to know is what happens in the next nine months - I've sent an email to my trustee but they never reply to anything.
Is there another review? On my last payment will they ask to do another yearly review? I did have PPI with an old credit card which I paid off and I was fully conscious and well informed and made the decision to take PPI knowingly. I was sent forms a few months back and told them so - will they still try and somehow investigate PPI?
Sorry for such a long message! Thanks so much for your help.
I am also with KPMG, I called them couple of weeks ago and they told me that my last payment was due on 1st August which has gone but i'm not convinced as my previous yearly reviews say I have to make 37 contributions not 36.(think that was due to me finishing paying off a student loan) I am going to call them tomorrow to check. They haven't sent me a final review, the last 2 years I got at the end of July so there's a chance it could arrive this week. They also told me I wouldn't be discharged until PPI investigations were complete, they sent me the forms in February this year. I will let you know how I get on.
I always call KPMG and speak direct, I left messages before and they never returned my calls so best to phone until you get through. They have always been really helpful when I do get through.

My advice would be to ask KPMG to start investigating PPI now if they havent already done so. This has held my discharge up for 14 months after my final payment. KPMG will NOW discharge with PPI pending as after taking advice on this forum I have hounded them and "reminded" them of the rules. (Anyone taking a trust deed out after April 2008 has the right to be discharged while PPI is investigated) I never had a review in my final year as they said it "wasnt needed." I have received my final statement of affairs. Like you my contributions increased quite considerably into the 2nd year. However, my creditors aren't benefiting from this as KPMG said their admin fees had increased considerably. Not impressed to say the least. Good luck with it all.
Hi Backontrack,
Hopefully your last 9 payments will fly in!
In terms of what happens next - just keep plodding through the last few payments, any forms your Trustee sends you whether income and expenditure review, PPI information requests, whatever. Do not delay in sending anything back as this should ultimately allow things to finish on time. Put the pressure on your trustee to get it closed on time. Other than you there is nothing stopping you receiving your discharge weeks after your last payment.

Hi.
Just to correct something in Mollykins10'a post...
We know there was a change in the rules in 2008 that made it possible to discharge a client from a trust deed while final matters (like PPI) are being worked through.
There's no "right" to a discharge at this point though. It's just something that most trust deed providers (not all) seem to think is the right thing to do.
I called KPMG today and they were very helpful. Everything is up to date and just waiting on my last payment clearing. They said that even though there are still couple of creditors who have not got back to them regarding PPI this will not hold up my discharge.
Just thought I'd let you know, seems to be all very smooth.
So excited to be finished!

Sounds goos, falco28. Looks like kpmg have changed their policy of not allowing discharge until PPI investigations fully completed, which must be good news for many people.
Hi all, thanks so much for your replies, it's so helpful and greatly appreciated. Would any of you know whether it's customary for them to do extra income/expenditure reviews at the end?
Hi Backontrack,
It's good to hear that you are into the home straight with regards to your Trust Deed.
We issue and review current status reports on a six monthly basis. You may find with 9 payments to go you may have another review form to complete in this period but you'd really need to check that with KPMG.
I can only speak for my firm in that when someone has completed all of their agreed contributions we do not carry out a final income and expenditure review as in our opinion that person has completed all of their obligations.
I'm sure the next 9 months won't be slow in passing. Effectively this time next year you should be discharged from your Trust Deed and debt free...

Thank you David and TDA! So far they have only contacted me each 12 months but wondered whether it was different on the final year.
