can anyone help, welcome finance keep reporting wrong information about me to the credit agencies.my files show i owe them over £7000. when my trust deed became protected(june 2007)it was £3800 this was part of my trust deed.i was discharged july 2010. they also offset £1300 from my ppi claim last year(i have a letter from welcome which says balance is £2500 after offset) the default date is also wrong it says october 2007 when it should be june 2007.as all other debts from my trust deed drop of my file june 2013 i would like to sort this out.i have contacted welcome about this -by phone-email- letter but have had no reply.i have just noticed eqifax show a £0 balance and account closed (default date still wrong)other two(call credit and experian). still showing over £7000 owed.i have all the paperwork about trust deed ,discharge, the letter from welcome, etc can i go straight to the credit agencies to get this sorted?
Hi luggy93.
See: https://www.trust-deed.co.uk/repair-your-credit-rating.html
Your default notices should be dated around the start of your trust deed. They should be marked as being satisfied or partially satisfied once you have been discharged. The balances should be set to zero on these accounts.
If the lender refuses to update your record to match reality you may need to approach the Information Commissioner as your data protection rights may be being infringed.
You might wish to approach the Financial Ombudsman about the offset PPI payment. They may believe that Welcome had no debt to offset this payment against. They may therefore require them to pay the sum offset directly to you.
The ico website has good information regarding incorrect info being held about you.
