Hi, can I ask members please, what is the deal with being bombarded by Vanquis Credit Card ! Our trust deed is only in the first month and I've had several e-mails and now postal mailings with application forms. My understanding is that you're not allowed credit whilst in the trust deed, which is fine and sensible. After that it can help to re-build your credit once the 6 years are done, but why am I being sent these things now ? Surely any application for credit would be refused ?

Hi Stephanie.

An application probably would be refused, but you seem to have been added to their marketing list for whatever reason.

We know someone that suffered identity theft recently who also suddenly received their marketing material, though we don't know if the events were in any way connected.

You are technically allowed to use credit during a trust deed, though it will almost always be a bad idea to do this as no provision to repay new debts will be granted by the trustee.

A credit card after being discharged from a protected trust deed might be helpful for rebuilding your credit status if it is used carefully.
