Hi was just wondering if anyone had a Vanquis credit card. I got one to re-build my credit history after making sure this was ok with my trust deed. My trust deed finished in February 2012 and I've just to pay back equity from my house and will have this done by March with the help of my sister.
My question is this I got the card to put my petrol on and then would pay this off every month, well thats all well and said. I put the petrol on the card and went to Santander to pay for it and they said I could not pay for it there and had to pay it at a post office. I continued on to the post office to pay for it and was told I would have a £3 charge to pay for them dealing with it.
Any ideas if there is another way I can pay this off without continually getting charged the £3 everytime I make a payment to the card.
I know I can phone them up to find out but just wondered if anybody on here had any dealings with them.
Thanks..

Hi tompie1980.

Are you not in a position to make an electronic payment to them from your bank account?

Hi tompie1980,

I have a Vanquis Card and if you go to their website you can pay online with a debit card. Hope this helps

I pay online for mine. I am actually rather impressed by the whole vanquis set up. Very professional indeed.

I was worried about applying for a vanquis card at 1st as I thought they'd make it hard to pay so they could hammer charges on but the online service is pretty good and I get texts when my payments due and balance updates.

Easier to use than my tsb platinum card ever was. And the high APR stops me wanting to go silly with it (that and my trust deed re-education program).

Fair enough for people to finish a td and announce they never want credit again but I want an interest free sofa, I want a credit card I control, I will want a car loan. All things that other people manage without getting into trouble.

Re-education is key to not making the same mistakes twice!!

I've got one. The only issue I had was when some generous individual bought themselves a flight somewhere nice as a wee gift from me. It took Vanquis a couple of weeks to sort it out and credit the money back. Never had any issues with the payment thing. I have a direct debit set up for the minimum and the rest I pay when I get paid. As Plasticdaft says, the interest rates stops you from spending loads. Also as he says, I want to be able to buy furniture, get a new car or change my mortgage so I need to show banks that I can be trusted. Remembering what my previous balance were (close to £40,000), I now panic round about £400.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Hi,
This may be a stupid question, but can people still in TDs get one of these high interest cards? My husband & I are 6 months from completion (yay!!!) & are wanting to rebuild our credit ratings
Thanks

Possibly not boys1211, though you'd have to try to find out.

Lenders must be seen to lend responsibly, and lending to an individual who is currently formally insolvent might be seen as the opposite of that.

Thanks TDA,
I wasn't planning to apply until after discharge but reading this post I wasn't clear what the best route was ! Believe me we're in no hurry for credit again but was just wondering as obviously we want to rebuild our credit rating for the future !

You will have plenty time after td ends to build your credit rating up while you wait for yhe td to drop of your files. I know of several peopke down south in ivas who have gotvanquis cards before discharged.
