Hi there it has been while since on here as things been plain sailing with TD and am near the end of it but have just had WA on phone saying my final review which done November has typing error in final amounts and will not be finished in April as letter says will be August! I'm fizzing can they do this? Yours very unhappily. J

Just to add in September there I had made 36 monthly contributions with 3 months left plus 7 for arrears seems every time am nearing the end there is more... It has been long hard struggle early last year on here considered take other plan advice as my income was so low but after discussion with WA contibutions was lowered and assured less time do it would be finished April as the letter reads final payment 28/5/13 hope speak soon.

Hi Juliej1612,
Not ideal that they have given you false hope.
As I understand it your 36 month term ended in September 2012. Add to that 7 months arrears which had to be made up would take you to April 2013. They have advised you it will take 3 months to close hence about August they anticipate evertyhing will be done and dusted.
If it was agreed that 36 payments were to be made I would double check how many you have paid. Unfortunately it will have to remain open until these are all paid. 3 months generally for closure proceedure is about right so it seems about right to me if i am correct in assuming the above?
Very irresponsible for a typing error to slip the net though giving you false hope of a sooner discharge but there is nothing that can be done to reduce the time unless someone can lend you money to pay off the remaining contributions.

Hi Juliej1612,
That's unfortunate about your Trust Deed lasting longer than you initially thought. I know when I've been due to finish paying something I've looked forward to the extra money so do understand the feeling.
I agree with Rob in that if you agreed 36 payments totalling X then this is what should be ingathered even if it means extending the Trust Deed by a couple of months to ingather the missed payments.
Have you clarified why you have to continue paying till August?
Your almost at the end of your Trust Deed and the light is starting to appear at the end of the tunnel. Hang on in there and before you know it you will be finished.

Hi julie
the key thing in the trust deed proposal is really the figure agreed at the start ie if you agree to 36 x £250 then the creditors expect you to pay £9k. The time period is stated, but can change if there are missed payments etc.

Hi Mark I guess as you say the case as at the beginning my earnings were lot more but due to having to sell the car as could not afford repairs a year in and had sell (money into TD of course) I changed job back into the city as travel was problem. Having said this advice received August last year because of income so low was a lilo which would take year. Through long discussions with WA they convinced me less than that on TD which not the case now! Thinking come August they will come up with something else! And contributions continue till who knows when! I just wish had the 600 to pay off. Guess I keep buy lotto ticket in meantime. J

Hi Juliej1612,
Contact WA and establish exactly how much you have outstanding in terms of your original agreement under the Trust Deed and how many payments you have remaining. Also ask them to confirm in writing the exact date you should be finished your payments. That should help with the fear of the unknown come August and give you something to work towards.
I assume when you speak of a lilo you mean a LILA (Low Income Low Asset)? This is an avenue to proceed into Bankruptcy but doesn't necessarily mean that you would not make a payment towards a Bankruptcy. If you did do this you may be required to start all over again with monthly payments for 3 years ÔÇô You would need to be released from your Trust Deed first. In a Bankruptcy, a payment can be set as low as £40 per month in some cases.
I know it must be quite stressful but if you have £600 outstanding then you are almost at the end.
I play the lotto too with the dream of winning it one day too but even that's gone up in price.

And btw I already have letter confirm payments outstanding amounts finish April as say before so this is my worry come August?
J Johnston
Thanks Julie. You have got to be in it to win it as they say.

So should I ask them to confirm in the letter also that they make typing error in my final assessment yeah? only apology by phone. Thanks appreciate advice
J Johnston
I know the error has caused some upset and unfortunately errors do occur from time to time but it's good to hear WA have apologised for this. They do pop on the forum from time to time so may well see the issues you are having.
I think you should focus on confirming exactly how much is outstanding and how many payments you have remaining under your Trust Deed.
