Hi, I have spent the last few nights reading all the posts and the information has been brilliant! I signed my trustdeed tonight and it feels great! thanks to this forum I went in armed with about 8 questions as some posters have regretted not asking certain things so I made sure I was well prepared before it's to late..I just hope it gets protected but my IP told me of the 4000 he has dealt with only 6 have not got the protection.. I am so looking forward to a fresh start ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi freshstart2013

Well done and welcome. The five weeks following publication in the gazette will seem to take forever but I'm sure, come the new year you will be in your protected trust deed.

Good luck

Hi freshstart2013.

Congratulations on having taken this major step and especially on having approached it in such a thoughtful way.

Asking lots of questions and getting the answers confirmed can go a long way to:

1 - Reassure people that they're making a good decision.

2 - Remove some of the potential for misunderstandings and problems further down the track.

Fingers crossed that it becomes a protected trust deed. It sounds as though the numbers are very much on your side in this respect.

Hi the five weeks will go in quick. I phoned my IP 5 weeks to the day to ask if my TD had been protected and it was - with only one objection from a creditor. The pressure that get's lifted of you gives you a fresh start all by itself as your IP will now be looking after things. The past two and a half years for me during my TD have been hassle free. Communication with your IP is key during a TD - as being open and honest with your IP from start to finish will give you a clear run over the next three years. Good luck.

Hi payback..that sounds reassuring, how many creditors did you have?i had about 9 but my IP said he was very farmiliar with them all and had no problems in the past with any of them objecting..I've been getting 4 phone calls a day already from 1 creditor and that's only because I've missed a payment as my IP advised me to stop paying and I also needed the money for my first payment in my trustdeed

I have five creditors in my TD. Strangely enough the creditor who I owed the least amount too was the one who objected. Santander have a problem with communicating with each other as I think my TD got faxed to each department. I had to ask the creditor - the name of the person who was calling and their department section telephone + fax number of who was calling - so my IP could target them directly, the calls calmed down soon after this approach was taken. Maybe people who are getting calls should try this and pass on the details to their IP.
