Hi - I have been looking at a looking at a Trust Deed company called Trust Deed X (link removed) who are not on your list of Trust Deed companies.

Can you confirm if these people are legitimate. I appreciate that you cannot give negative feedback but I like the reviews on their website and I want to use them just don't want to hand over money to a company without checking.

Or should I just use a featured company on this site?

Dan

Hi DannyD.

I've never heard of them so cannot provide any feedback related to their services.

The OFT, through their licensing regime and "debt management guidance", make certain requirements of anyone in the debt advice field.

The website you mention does not seem to provide details of any consumer credit licence (issued by the OFT) that would be needed to operate lawfully in this area.

The website also doesn't seem to provide any details of the corporate entity operating the site (a breach of the guidelines).

It also explicitly describes itself as being "impartial" which appears highly likely to be a serious breach of the guidelines.

If you're going to go ahead with a trust deed there is no need to hand over any money at all unless you've become formally committed to the process with an actual provider of trust deeds.

Hi DannyD

I have to say I have never heard of this company either. Quotes on websites are not always reliable so be very careful. As already said, you should not have to part with money upfront.

Shona is not currently posting in the Trust-Deed.co.uk forum.
