Hi can anyone please advise?

I finished my trust deed agreement on 29 January 2009. I have a letter confirming that 36 payments were made. I also have another letter confirming no rights to my property (having borrowed from a family member and paid ?รบ5K).

I contacted my IP (BDO Glasgow) 3 times before getting a letter to confirm that I had satisfied the 36 payments but am still not discharged.

I tried to change my basic key bank account to a current account to be able to have a debit card (not looking for credit - been there done that!) but was declined on the basis of a bankruptcy history but may be reconsidered if I can provide a discharge.

Doest the IP have any time frame rules or guidelines to provide a discharge? My credit history is not showing debts included in the protected trust deed as satisfied.

Any comments / suggestions would be most welcome.

Many thanks

MicheleF

Hi MicheleF,

Congratulations on having completed your commitments to your Trust Deed.

I'm sure you should have been discharged by now. Have you asked for or been given any reason why not?

You may wish to apply for a Co-op Bank Cashminder account. It's a basic account for which few people are turned down and it comes with a debit card. If you don't have a local branch you can nominate a local Post Office to use instead.

Hi MicheleF

The Discharge can take up to 3 months from the date of completion, but I'm surprised that this has not been done by now.

Best Idea would be to contact the Trustee to ask why the delay.

Many thanks to you both for your prompt reply. I will check out the Coop bank option as it would be very useful to have a debit card.

I have contacted my trustee on several occasions by telephone and in writing. It was during a telephone call in July that I made after not having received any response to 2 separate letters I was advised that the discharge could take several months. Following this call I did receive a letter to say I had paid my agreed monthly charge for 36 months but still no discharge.

Keep pressing them MicheleF. You've met your commitments and they need to meet theirs now.
