Hi my wife's trust deed finished last mont and mine has 2 months to run. We have recently read a trust deed is now over 4 years will this affect me in any way. We both have made our payments without missing any for the last 3 years. How long will it take to discharge us and is my wife safe to cancel her direct debit thanks in advance

No, the regulations changed in November last year, however this will have no effect on you or your wife's own position if yours was signed for a 3 year period.
You should double check with the trustee to see if it is ok to cancel the S/O. They should be able to check all payments and confirm this.
Assuming all things are dealt with, discharge can be from 4-8 weeks.
