Hi everyone. I have just passes my 1st year in my trust deed and i'm looking to move into a flat with my partner. We have viewed a flat today but the agent wants ?ú60 each from us to do a credit check and for admin charges ect...

Just wantes to know how my TD will affect my credit rating as we dont want to throw ?ú120 down the pan on a credit check that will fail.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Hello Eric,

Welcome the the forum.

I'd suggest that you discuss the protected trust deed with the agent in advance so that they can speak to their client about whether they would accept you as a tenant.

The point to emphasise is that you currently have no debt repayments other than the Trust Deed, have become used to living on a budget, and that the budget you live on prioritises rent payments. A reference from your current landlord might be helpful as well.

Another option might be for your partner to rent the flat alone?

Hi thanks for your reply!

I'll give them a phone today and let them know about the trust deed and that my budget allows my rent to be a priority!

My partner is in a debt managment program at the moment so I would have thought I would have had more chance than her. My partner has handed her notice for her current flat so we need to secure a place by the end of the month! Just hoping my TD don't affect us getting a place!

Thanks again,
Eric

Good luck BigEck - let us know how you get on will you? I think it'd be very useful feedback for others who may be in a similar situation.
