Hi,
new to this,
can you please tell me if the trust deed is as simple as it sounds.

I have a slight negative equity, and credit/store card debts of 12K, I have been quoted £180 per month for 3 years then I am clear.....is it really that simple?

Hi confused

Difficult to say without all the facts. My advice is sit face to face, discuss all options available and ensure everything discussed is in writing before you do anything.

If the above hasnt happened, then the guidance isnt being followed.

Welcome to the forum confused.com.

Further to Mark's comments, I'm not sure that a trust deed should be viewed as being "simple". It's a pretty serious step to take, albeit one that is suitable for many peoples circumstances.

Having said that there is no shortage of debt agencies that present a trust deed, either verbally or in their websites, as being the most straightforward thing in the world. You'll draw your own conclusions as to why this might be the case.

Based upon your comments you'll need to be careful that your home is addressed in the trust deed in a way that equity will not become an issue later.

You'll also want to avoid paying an unnecessary £500 to "protect the equity" or some similar statement. That is a charge that there is no point in paying whatsoever (other companies will provide the same service without any additional fee).

You may want to weigh up the alternatives as well. For example, based upon the figure you have provided the Debt Arrangement Scheme will result in you fully repaying your debts in around 5.5 years without entering into a formal insolvency like a trust deed.
