i have a protected trust deed which my partner who lives with me does not know about as we keep our money seperate. My partner pays me half the bills every month and this is fine. he has recently been talking about gettin a protected trust deed himself and although i think this would be great to get him out the mess he is in im not wanting him to know about mine. my question is, on him applying will they ask him loads of questions about me or will it just be about the split bills he pays with me? and when the trust deed is set up will it flag up on trustees system that someone at that address already has a trust deed? therefore he may find out? i know you shouldnt keep secrets in a relationship but my trust deed is nearly over and was from before we got together so never felt need to mention it as it was in my past!
Hi 6262sharon
There should be nothing which flags up to show the existing Trust Deed.
If you are together, the IP will look at joint income and expenses and agree a figure for your partner. In normal circumstances, an allowance will be shown for you. Normally it will be put under partner's costs and expenses or similar.

thanks for your quick reply i never even knew this site existed well the forums anyway!
so the IP would ask for proof of my income and expenditure also? therefore i would need to explain my amount i pay my trust deed? sorry if im being slow just want to be clear before i advise my partner ๐
Hello 6262sharon.
If your share of the household "disposable income" is sufficient to cover your trust deed payment there may be no need to declare the trust deed itself.
I think it will come down to the specific numbers involved really. Sorry not to be able to provide a more precise answer.
