Hi

How can I find out if I have been discharged from my trust deed, and also if my trustee has been discharged? I have tried the AIB website, but not sure what I am looking for. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi there go into the AIB site and click on insolvency register...it's in a blue box backround... create an account with your email and a password of your choice...sign in and scroll to "trust deeds"....enter your name in the box provided....click search....it should then bring up the details of your trust deed inclusive of your own discharge date and that of your trustee.

A perfect answer from littlemo.

The Register of Insolvencies will clear this up.

Hi

Followed your instructions up to clicking the blue box, but when I get into it, I can't see a section for creating an account, only a section asking me to log in, which obviously I can't because I haven't created one. Help.

Are you using a mobile device or desktop?

I've only ever looked at the register on a desktop before.

Using my phone now I've just been able to search the register without creating a login or using my existing account login details.

I'd be surprised if that was deliberate on the part of the AIB, but lots of organisations are currently doing work on the mobile-friendly versions of their websites.

Hi

I'm using a desktop, but when I enter the blue area, as directed by littlemo, it asks me to log in, but can't see where I can create an account.

Hi again.

I can't help at the moment - only got access to mobile devices.

Hopefully someone sat at a PC could take a look for you...

Am I maybe doing something wrong? Do I need to be inputting details on some other part of the website before I can create a log-in? If someone could give me step to step details, I would be grateful?

On mobile I'm going to:

https://roi.aib.gov.uk/roi

Then selecting the following option to do a search (no login):

"Search Moratoriums, Trust Deeds, or Insolvencies Cases".

Hi dt and TDA

The website format has changed. I could only search before if I registered and then signed in - which I did.

Following TDA's advice I opened website, selected to the Trust Deed search function and put in my name in he Search Criteria. Up came my details. In my case they have the wrong spelling of my first name so it does not always appear. Depends on the search information used.

So, it is much easier for anyone to search for Trust Deed records. I thought the entry was removed 12 months after discharge, but from my records that does not seem to be the case. Can someone tell me when the entry is removed from the website? I know the Edinburgh Gazette told me it was on their records indefinitely, however, I did think it was removed from AIB register after one year of discharge.

Trust Deed Signed Date 05/08/2009

Date of registration as a protected trust deed
23/09/2009

Date when statement of realisation and distribution received
15/07/2014

Trustee Discharge Date 11/07/2014

Debtor Discharge Date 21/08/2013

Hi Firewalker.

Unfortunately it's one year from trustee discharge.

Thanks TDA.

Oh well, it should disappear just before the TD drops off from the Credit Reference Agency. Roll on new year! Oops, should not be wishing my life away [:D]

Hi Firewalker

TD was signed on 31/10/11

Paid this off in September of 2014 - Total paid £7186 - 30 x £131.00. a lump sum gifted by my son of £2358, and a ppi claim from the creditor who is named in the TD of £898. Total debt was £10,014. Another ppi claim came through from a credit card of £4322 (which is not one of the named creditors, that's to go to the TD. That would means I will have paid a total of £11508. That's more than the debt. Should I expect to get the difference back of almost £1500. Can they take more of me than my TD is worth? That why I'm trying to find out if I and the trustee have been discharged, but as I can't find my details on the register, I presume the answers no. Is that the only way to find out, or can I call or email them?

Hi dt

TDA or the IPs on here could advise you how it works with the amount to be repaid. I don't know for sure but I suspect it would be the amount you originally owed, plus any interest that would have been applied, plus Trustee/IP fees, the total of which would be more than the original amount. I don't really know for sure.

Anyway, with regard to the AIB website, when you do a search, have you used the Search Criteria to try searching a few different ways?
The Search criteria is in the wide fine lined box above each search result. I personally don't think it is a user friendly site.

You could add only your surname, or you could use your surname and postcode for example. Depending on how I use the criteria I can appear or not. I would suggest if you have not already done so, that you try various different search criteria to see if you appear at any time. From the dates you gave, it would suggest that it should still be live on the AIB register.

You can also call them. 03002002600 and choose option 3. I tried earlier to check out how long records appear, but it is Easter Friday and I think they may be closed.

Good luck.
