Hi there,

Have been on here reading a lot of posts as a lurker for a few weeks, but finally realised I had to do something about our debts and made an enquiry through the board about entering into a TD.

Andrew got in contact, and couldnt be more helpful with all the advice and encouragement he gave. Made me feel a lot better about our situation and not to get too down about it.

He then passed us onto Paul at Wylie and Bisset, and from then until now, I cant praise him highly enough. Paul was at the end of the phone to answer any queries either by text or call, and made us well aware of all the options available to us. We signed our TD on Wednesday night, and we are now just waiting for it to go Protected, so I want to thank Paul for not making it as daunting as my wife and I thought it would be.

I can't thank Andrew or Paul highly enough, and I also want to thank you, the board Administrators and helpers for having this information available. It is so much better to read real people airing their problems and success stories on a forum like this, than going through generic web sites that give the rose tinted outlook.

Hi jb70,

Welcome to the forum as a poster!

I'm pleased that Paul was able to help you and your wife and you were happy with the way he handled things. I've passed on your thanks to him.

I think when you speak with an advisor who has experience in dealing with Trust Deeds, Sequestrations and Debt Arrangement Schemes on a daily basis it really helps when that advisor is discussing all of your options as they can give you a very good summary of how each option will work from start to finish. That's the benefit of the forum and the experts on here. We all have hands on knowledge and experience of how things work with cases day to day.

I'm sure there won't be any problems regarding the protection of your Trust Deed and good luck for the future.

Welcome to the forum jb70.

I'm pleased to hear that you've found a way forwards and are feeling better about your situation now.

It's great to hear that Andrew (who works with me here) and Paul (who works with David Tannock who posts on this forum) played their part in helping you to find this way forwards.

It's also really good to hear that the forum itself has helped you. I think a combination of subject experts and people with real experience is a pretty powerful combination.

Best wishes with everything from here.

I know what you mean about rose tinted. Its not an easy ride and to be fair nor shoukd it be but carefully selecting who you want to help you through the process and maintaining lines of communication throughout are key elements of success!

Good luck and keep posting.

Paul

Just a wee update guys, we have just been notified our TD has got Protected status, so that's another massive weight off our shoulders.

I have also been very pleasantly surprised with all of our creditors and the way they have dealt with us during this. I had this picture in my head of really awkward and cheeky Collections Depts hounding me, but as soon as I have mentioned the TD and our Trustee, they have took the details and left it at that - even CapitalOne 😀

Anyways - thanks again for all your help and info in the initial stages.

Hi jb70,

I sit next to Louise and I didn't realise that you were one of the clients that she was making her regular ÔÇ£protectionÔÇØ phone calls to.

Glad to see that everything has worked out and your cases are now protected.

Before you know it you will be coming to the end of the Trust Deed's and posting about your discharge and life after your Trust Deed's.

Well - last payment was made on the 1st of this month and Standing Order del#8203;eted. So glad to be at the end of this now, just waiting for whatever info is still to come from the Trustee and we are all done.

Amazing and 3.5 years does actually go very quickly. Our first grandson was born in August last year as well, so all in all, its a much brighter 2017. Onwards and upwards

Oh and anyone who has any doubts about doing this - dont hesitate. I was really stressing myself out before we did this, and the weight that lifts off you is unbelievable.

Thanks again to all at Wylie & Bisset for their help during the whole time they have dealt with us.

Hi jb70,

I'm very pleased for you - congratulations on reaching the very final stages of your trust deed.

Thank you as well for adding this update to your original post from May 2013. That time has really passed very quickly from our perspective and I very much hope that the same is true for you.

Consolidating this forum thread as you have done brilliantly illustrates how reaching out for advice, to implementing a solution, to completing a solution and becoming debt-free, really can happen over a reasonable and realistic period of time.

Do you have a celebration planned?

Not much planned - apart from putting our trust deed payment away for a rainy day 🙂 Also, with the grandson here now, we have a bit more money left over now to spoil him with - although my daughter says I have to behave 🙂

It has flown in - I remember when we took it out and thinking 3.5 years was a long, long time, but I suppose as you get older, time does seem to go a lot quicker.

This forum was a great help back then and I can see that it continues to do sterling work for those who are stuck and cant see a way out.

Hi jb70,

Congratulations on reaching this point in your Trust Deed journey.

I’ve given your relationship manager Louise a heads up on you case and asked her to review things and progress your discharge as quickly as possible. We aim to have this done within 4-6 weeks of your final payment. If you want to discuss anything specific about you’re case please give me or her a quick call.

Thanks for coming back onto the forum and to share an update on your original thread right from the start of the process. I can’t believe looking back I wrote on the 31 July 2013 “Before you know it you will be coming to the end of the Trust Deed's and posting about your discharge and life after your Trust Deed's” and here you are at the end.

We always tell everyone that if you take your time, meet with a qualified debt Expert and do a little research then a Trust Deed can and does work and should run smoothly and without any problems.

You sound like my dad with my sons. I’ve got to remind my dad not to spoil them too much but he can’t help it.

It sounds like 2017 will be much brighter.

Thanks for the call on Friday evening David - got our Form 5 through yesterday and that's us all done. Hopefully anyone reading this will now contact Wylie & Bisset if they have any worries - they wont be disappointed with the way their case will be handled.

Thanks again guys - your advice and help was invaluable at what was a very difficult time.
