Hi Guys

My wife and I signed our TD on Tuesday November 23rd.

I was kind of hoping things would get underway quickly. As of today (Fri Dec 3rd), our notice hasn't yet appeared in the Edinburgh Gazette nor have we had any further communication.

Maybe the weather's to blame.

Is this normal? Maybe I'm simply too impatient!

Cheers

Hi DFW.

Best to call your trust deed company and ask them I think.

Hopefully you'll be reassured by the answer.

Hi

I too am in the same position. I signed my trust deed on 1st December and am now just waiting for things to happen. As TDA says it is probably a good idea to contact your trust deed company to get more information and I know I will be contacting my IP regularly for updates on how things are going.

One thing I am worried about is I have received a letter from a debt collectors today who are making the ususal threats about what will happen if I do not make any repayments. I am unsure whether to contact them or not and as it is the weekend I am unable to contact my IP but will be contacting them first thing on Monday.

Hello gresgow.

Try not to worry too much about that letter over the weekend. These types of letters are written in a style designed to cause alarm so that the recipient calls them. They are trying to force people into doing something about their debt, but you already have done so by signing a trust deed.

Your trust deed company should deal with this for you when you contact them on Monday.

Hey Gresgow

Don't you think this forum is a BRILLIANT place to get peace of mind when you're going through this? TDA and the experts really know how to put your mind at rest.

I decided that I WAS being a bit impatient. And, when I thought about it, although I thought nothing was happening, I had forgotten that our home valuation had taken place in the interim. And it was to our advantage (no equity) so good news there.

Anyway, the point is you have signed the TD so you're in it whether you have received papers or not. That means your IP can now take care of all your dealings with creditors. Don't forget you're paying for that service through your payments (albeit which have not yet started) so get your money's worth. Anything you get, just send it immediately to your IP. That's what I intend to do if/when it happens.

Anyway, I'm sure TDA will jump in here and put me in my place if any of this advice is incorrect.

Cheers,

DebtFreeWannabee

There is nothing to correct DFW!

Your contributions to the forum are very much appreciated. I think that the great strength of this site is the combination of technical knowledge of the experts and, at least as importantly, the sharing of real experience by visitors to the site.

When people contact the site support team they often comment that it helped them in several different ways to be able to read the stories and experiences of others who are at various stages of confronting similar financial issues to their own.
