Not sure if they would have a right to offset debts when taking over another bank?? One for the IP's and maybe TDA will know.

Hi blackpanther

Thank you for bringing this up on the forum as i'm sure there will be other affected by the same situation.

Last year RBS/Natwest announced they were selling some of their branches to Santander and this is expected to complete in the 1st quarter of 2012.

I have checked the RBS website which says that it is business as usual until the sale completes, however as you have received a letter it looks like your branch is one of those affected and will become owned and run by Santander.

You may have to change your account again but have a chat to your trustee first and see what they say about it.

Did your letter have a number to call incase you had any queries blackpanther?

Another question - what happens to joint debt if I go with a TD but my husband doesn't?

You are jointly and severally liable for any joint debt so hubby would have to carry on making the payments even though the debt would be included in the trust deed.

Hi blackpanther

You could give Natwest a call and ask them the question but you may have to change your account again.

worried me - If you go into a trust deed with a joint debt the other party to the debt will be responsible for the entire amount outstandingas well as the balance going into your trust deed.

Are you considering a trust deed worriedme?

Thanks TDA. Yes we're considering it and have a meeting arranged for next week to discuss what options are open to us. Am very nervous.

Meeting over and it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Feel much more reassured that a Trust Deed is the way to go for us. I might actually get a decent night's sleep tonight. Reading throughThis forum has answered so many of my questions, so thank you one and all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ho worriedme.

I'm glad to hear your meeting went well.

We've heard so many times over the years that people have a great sense of relief after they get the ball rolling and it's great that the same applies to you.

I think getting the process started is a much bigger step than the process itself.
