Hi there.

I've been discharged from my Trust Deed since May and reading some, but not all of the posts on here, I'm a little confused about PPI.

My trustee confirmed at my time of discharge that they would be looking to claim PPI.

Am I entitled to any of this and can I try and claim this back myself? Should I just email them and ask?

Thanks!

Is your trustee still in place then Buzzbee, or have they been discharged too? You can check this on the Register of Insolvencies.

It sounds like they may be staying in post to gather in PPI before being discharged in which case you would not be likely to be able to keep any PPI monies yourself.

Hi Buzzbee.

The controversy here has been about trust deeds being "re-opened" to collect PPI after a trustee has been discharged.

Trustee discharge usually happens a fair while after the discharge of the person who has finished their trust deed.

What happens very commonly is that a trustee remains "in office" (not discharged) so that they can carry on investigating whether they can claim any PPI funds for the creditors of their client - after that client has been discharged.

If your trustee hasn't been discharged the chances are that any PPI proceeds, whoever made the claim, would be sent direct to the trustee. Even if they weren't, it would really be up to you to forward those funds to them.

If you look on the Register of Insolvencies (online) you'll be able to check whether your trustee has yet been discharged. It doesn't sound like they will have been from what you've written.

Definitely check if your trustee has been discharged - I found my old letter last week and my trustee was discharged about a month or so after I was, but there was no investigation into PPI.
