Hi I started my TD April 2016 and paid it off early April 2017. Do I still have to wait the 4 years to be discharged and will the TD stay on my credit report for 6 years? What happens with the Insolvency Register is my name on that too? Thanks for any advice
Hi there. If you have paid off all debts and costs in full then you should be discharged very soon afterwards.
Your credit report shows everything that has happened in the last 6 years, so yes I am afraid your Trust Deed probably will show for 6 years from when it started.
Your details will disappear from the Register of Insolvencies 1 year after your trustees discharge, which shouldn't be too long after your own usually.
Hi Hf1998,
Did you pay off the full balance, plus interest and costs? If you did then you will be able to receive your discharge within the next couple of months rather than wait until the end of 4 years.
I would give your Trustee a call and ask when you can expect to receive your Form 5 certificate of discharge.
As Kevin has advised the debts will still remain on your credit report for a period of 6 years from the date of the defaults. Once you receive your Form 5 it’s a good idea to notify the creditors of this and request that they update your credit file. You also want to ensure that any default date is dated as close to the start of your Trust Deed or when it became protected. If it’s not then you need to ask the creditor to amend this.
