Can you please advise if a lump sum is due to your TD at the end of the monthly payments and you pay this, what then happens after this is paid. Ie. what is the procedure/timescale and how are you discharged from the TD.
Thanks again.
You should be discharged soon after the payments have been made, as long as your trustee is on the ball. A letter confirming your discharge will normally be sent out to you within a few weeks.
Thanks Kevin I asked the same question of my Trustee who advised they'd let me know the timescale involved within a few weeks - does this mean they are not on the ball !
Believe it or not I am STILL waiting to hear from them. I'm starting to worry that they are looking for some other way to get more money off me
I haven't made the last payment yet. I have an endowment which if I encash will be treated as an acquired asset and need to go to the TD. However, if I pay the balance due now (which I'm trying to do with funds I've borrowed) and wait till discharged from the TD, the money from the endowment will be mine - well my parents. I can't encash the endowment now as it's gone up since I took out the TD and the Trustees would want it all. I just need to know how long the process will take so that I know when I can encash the endowment and pay back what I'm borrowing. Hope that makes sense.
That does make sense WIKIKEE.
The truth seems to be that different firms take a different amount of time to bring cases to closure. As we've seen on another thread today, a couple of companies seem to have case closure on hold right now as well.
I'm sorry that this answer isn't very helpful, but I think you'll need to make further enquiries directly to your own firm on this subject.
