tax credits overpayment question

my wife and I have received letters re the above,i spoke to them on the phone and they said when I am sequestrated to send details to them
as it will be included in my bankruptcy.(doing it this week)
My wife has just cleared her bankruptcy would they chase her for the arrears even though they told me it would be included in mine! confused? I am...any help? cheers

It depends when the overpayment is from. If it happened wholly prior to your wife's sequestration then she should no longer be liable. If it was after then they could still expect payment from her.

Ah well I'm afraid she will be liable. The relevant date is the date of sequestration - ie the start of the bankruptcy. Any new debt after that is not included.
