Hi all,
I was wondering if I could get a little bit of advice. My final payment for my TD was in August last year. Since then, I haven't received an awful lot of correspondence from the trustee. All I have dealt with recently relates to PPI checks.
I was just wondering where I would start in looking at applying for small amounts of credit, I was thinking of something like a vanquis or Aqua credit card.
Is this something I should leave for the time being? Would it cause a problem for my TD?
I don't see why it would cause any problem for your Trust Deed, GC1987.
I'm sure some members here will be able to make suggestions based on what they have found to be available.
Hi GC1987,
You should have no problem at all with ur trust deed. Regarding getting credit, i suggest u register with a free credir check website like clear score and noodle. They will also advise u which credit cards you are more likely to get accepted if you apply. This is done using a soft check that does no damage to ur credit score. Good luck
6-8 months after receiving my form 5 I managed to get a CB credit card 0 interest for a year with a ยฃ4500 credit limit. before hand I had a high interest vanquis which I was using often and paying off full balance every month (fuel)
Hi Kevin / Sigario and Jamie24,
Thanks all of you for your advice #128512; These websites do seem really informative and easy to navigate. I logged into Experian and used the card matching tool, when looking at different cards it had the 'pre approved' symbol on the bottom for a couple of them. I applied for one but was unsucessfull. I don't know if it's maybe too soon for me to apply, didn't want to apply for another just in case it affects my score any more. Would you all say it's better waiting until I receive the form 5?
Thanks again #128512;
Hi GC1987.
Lenders have to satisfy themselves (and potentially their regulator) that credit they offer to customers is affordable.
I'd imagine that for some lenders a current insolvency would be a clear signal that credit may not be affordable.
We do hear of people obtaining credit prior to discharge, but there will probably be more options for you later.
