Hi. I have decided to start a trust deed, as I no longer can cope with my debt. I have a new bank account in place, and all my totals of debts owed. My question is do the trustees charge me on top of my monthly payment. Also how do I choose a suitable company do you have any suggestions, near to Kilmarnock.

Hello lagglass and welcome to the Trust Deed forum.

Your monthly payment will be calculated by deducting your reasonable expenditure (mortgage/rent, council tax, utility bills, travel, food, clothing etc) from your income.

The fees of the Trust Deed firm will be taken from this affordable monthly contribution (i.e. they are not a payment on top of the Trust Deed payment).

There are lots of very good Trust Deed firms in Scotland. There are also a few who have attracted some negative feedback in this forum.

We feature the three firms of our experts Mark, Kevin and Julie as we are comfortable with the way that each firm operates. Each of these individuals has received some very good feedback in this forum from those who have decided to use them. As far as I am aware they all cover your area from their various offices.

However you choose to proceed I wish you well.

Hi Lagglass

No, there should be no upfront fees in signing a Trust Deed. The only payments should be 36 x the agreed contribution. The problem with up front fees appears to be with companies who advertise, take payments from you and then pass your details to an IP.

Kilmarnock is not a million miles away, so I'm sure most firms will be glad to travel the distance to get things underway.

Hope this helps

Mark
