My husband has a ptd that runs until around April next year. My dad wants to give me a gift of some money - sort of pre-inheritance - but I want to know how this would affect my husbands trust deed, if at all. Please advise..

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum jojunipermoon.

If this gift was clearly solely to you I don't think that the trustee would have any interest in it.

If you want to be totally reassured your husband could get his trust deed provider to confirm that.

Hi jojunipermoon and welcome to the forum.

Your situation should have no impact on your husband's Trust Deed and vice versa.

If your Dad wants to give you money there is no problem with that. The only one issue could be if the money is paid into a joint bank account. If this did happen as long as there was evidence that the money was paid to you and for you only then there shouldn't be any issues.

How would the funds be paid to you?

It's always best to get the Trustee's thoughts in writing on matters like this and ensure if the payment is being made to your account, you can show it was a gift and can trace the payment from your Father's account.
